On 26th June 2025, the FSC Eastern Africa team — led by Peter O. Alele, Ph.D. ,Agasha Annah ,Paul Stephen Opanga , Frida Salim. and gertrude ogwok — gathered at Golden Tulip Canaan Hotel in Kampala — to explore how we can expand the supply and demand for FSC-certified wood and wood products in Uganda.

The event brought together wood producers, buyers, regulators, NGOs, and financiers to explore how Uganda can expand the supply and demand for FSC-certified wood and wood products.

Highlights included:
✅ Discussing the benefits of FSC certification
✅ Identifying barriers and solutions to grow certified wood supply
✅ Strengthening market linkages
✅ Defining practical steps to make sustainable wood more accessible

It was inspiring to see so many dedicated voices working towards a future where responsible forestry benefits people, planet, and Uganda’s economy.
