Overview

Early plantation care has a lasting influence on survival, uniformity and future management options.

Inspect frequently

Young stands change quickly. Regular inspection helps teams respond to mortality, weeds, damage, pests and drainage issues while action is still practical.

Keep compartment records

Record planting material, dates, survival, replacement planting, work completed and costs so performance can be compared.

Protect the investment

Fire planning, access control and clear worker instructions should begin during establishment rather than after the canopy develops.
