The Uganda Timber Growers Association (UTGA) invites Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced consultants to undertake the review and update of the Forest Management Plan for West Bugwe Central Forest Reserve in Busia District.
About the assignment
The consultancy will support the preparation of a technically sound, legally compliant and FSC-aligned Forest Management Plan for the sustainable restoration, conservation and management of West Bugwe CFR. The work includes forest resource assessment, stakeholder consultation, GIS-based spatial analysis and management zoning, ecosystem-services considerations, management prescriptions, validation and finalisation.
Expected duration
The assignment is expected to be completed within one month. The detailed scope, deliverables, proposed work schedule and payment terms are provided in the attached Terms of Reference.

Complete applications must be received by 31 July 2026 at 5:00 p.m. East Africa Time (EAT). Shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
Eligibility and experience
Applicants should have an advanced degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Forest Economics, GIS or a related field. Relevant experience should include forest management planning, forest restoration or natural forest systems, GIS and spatial analysis, stakeholder engagement, and strong technical report writing. Knowledge of Uganda's forestry legal and policy framework and experience applying FSC Forest Management Standards are important. Experience with MWE, FSC-certified entities or donor-funded forest restoration projects is an added advantage. Refer to the attached Terms of Reference for the complete requirements.
